JOKOWI RAISES FUEL PRICE, RIZAL RAMLI “CONGRATULATES”

Jakarta, 27 Muharram 1436/20 November 2014 (MINA) – Senior economist and former economics minister Rizal Ramli, congratulated Indonesia President, Joko Widodo over his decision raising the price of fuel oil (BBM) when world crude oil prices tends to fall.

” Really, his decision has never done by the previous government, “said Ramli after meeting with Chairman of Indonesian People’s Consultative Assembly (MPR) Zulkifli Hasan.

The crude oil prices tends to fall in recent months. On New York Stock Exchange Marcantile Exchange (NYMEX), the price of oil is around US $ 74.98 / barrel.

With the trend, Malaysia has been ready to lower the fuel price in the country. Previously, a number of countries have already cut the prices of fuel.

China has lowered fuel prices seven times in the last seven years. The latest was done on November 1, 2014.

Rizal said, Jokowi raised fuel prices without explaining how the actual production cost of domestic fuel.

According to former minister, people were given a dogma that domestic fuel subsidy were very burdensome to state budget.

“When there is a problem on the state budget, government always rise fuel prices. It is the step of uncreative government. As a result, people always become the victims, “said Rizal.
