Israel Bars Islamic Waqf Guard from Entering Al-Aqsa Mosque for 15 Days

Jerusalem, MINA – Israeli authorities banned on Wednesday an Islamic Waqf guard from entering al-Aqsa Mosque in Jerusalem for 15 days under the pretext he did not obey police orders to stay away from Israeli fanatics during their provocative tour of al-Mosque Mosque compound in Jerusalem, WAFA reported, citing a Waqf official.

He said police detained Ihab Abu Ghazaleh during his work as guard at Al-Aqsa and took him to an interrogation center in the Old City of Jerusalem where he was charged of obstructing police work and not obeying orders to stay away from the Jewish fanatics.

He was later released on condition that he does not enter al-Aqsa Mosque for 15 consecutive days.

Jordan is in charge of al-Aqsa Mosque compound and Jerusalem Waqf and its staff are considered Jordanian government employees.

The Mosque guards are often banned from entering the compound for doing their duty by preventing fanatic Jews from violating conditions for visits by non-Muslims to the holy site that include holding Jewish religious rituals.

Fanatic Jews attempt to perform religious rituals in spite of the presence of Israeli police with them, prompting al-Aqsa guards to intervene to stop them. Police end up arresting the guards. (T/RS5/RS1)
