Iran Sympathizes on Colombia, Indonesia Landslides

Tehran, 06 Rajab 1438/03 April 2017 (MINA) – Foreign Ministry spokesman Bahram Qasemi expressed grief over the sad occasion of Colombia and Indonesia landslides which caused killing and missing of dozens of people, IRNA rported.

In his statement released on Sunday evening, the spokesman expressed sympathy with the bereaved families of the victims in the two countries.

City of Mocoa in Colombia was hit by a huge landslide of mud, rocks and waters burst which damaged houses on Saturday morning.

Colombian army in a statement announced that some 254 people were killed, 400 injured and 200 disappeared.

Meanwhile, a Friday heavy rain resulted in a landslide in Ponorogo, East Java, Indonesia.

Thirty-eight Indonesian people were buried.

An Indonesian military commander said that the incident claimed the lives of 22 of local people and 16 workers on ginger farms. (T/RS5/RS1)
