IOF KIDNAP FOUR PALESTINIANS, INCLUDING TWO MINORS

Betlehem, 23 Rabi’ul Akhir 1435/23 Februari 2014 (MINA) – Israeli occupation forces kidnapped, early Saturday, four Palestinians from the West Bank and summoned two minors to appear before Israeli occupation intelligence in Bethlehem district, according to security sources.

WAFA reports that forces kidnapped two minors, aged 15 and 16 years, after setting up a flying checkpoint in Beit Fajjar, located to the south of Bethlehem, the sources said, International Middle East Media Center (IMEMC) quoted by Mi’raj Islamic News Agency (MINA) as reporting

Forces also served two people, aged 15 and 24 years, with orders to appear before Israeli intelligence in Gush Etzion settlement, after breaking into and searching their houses in Ayda camp, located to the north of Bethlehem.

Sources added that masked Israeli soldiers kidnapped a person after stopping and confiscating his car in Beit Jala.

They also kidnapped a person at a flying military checkpoint that was set up in the vicinity of the cemetery in Al-Kader, a town located to the south of Bethlehem.

Palestinians injured during clashes near Ramallah

In Ramallah, six Palestinian citizens were injured during violent clashes that erupted between hundreds of youths and Israeli forces in front of the Jalazoun refugee camp, north of Ramallah, on Friday afternoon.

Hundreds of youths headed towards the settlement of Beit El, to protest the killing of a citizen from the camp last month, and threw stones and empty bottles at the Israeli soldiers and settlers.

PIC’s correspondent said that during the confrontations, Israeli snipers fired rubber bullets at the protesters, injuring a number of young men.

Dozens of Palestinians also suffered suffocation, when the border guards intervened and fired tear gas grenades to disperse the demonstrators.

Meanwhile, three demonstrators were injured in the town of Silwad east of Ramallah, during violent clashes that broke out west of the town on Friday afternoon.

Eyewitnesses told PIC’s correspondent that one of the protesters was hit in the head with a metal bullet and that he was transferred to hospital in serious condition.

They added that Israeli forces stormed the town from the west, and stationed near the Shuhada roundabout, near the camp of Silwad.

Prisoner Assaulted by Israeli Prison Guards, Hospitalized

A Palestinian prisoner, held in a Beersheba prison for driving without a license, has been hospitalized following an assault by Israeli prison guards, his family said on Friday.

Jihad Abd al-Rahman, a 47-year-old Palestinian from Jerusalem, was taken from the prison to the nearby Soroka Hospital two weeks ago, after passing out, a relative of the man told Ma’an News Agency.

At the time, Israeli special forces stormed a ward in the jail and assaulted prisoners using pepper spray, and Abd al-Rahman passed out during the assault, the relative said.

A week after Abd al-Rahman was hospitalized, the Israeli prison service asked the family to sign discharge papers, but the family refused to sign until they could ensure his situation had stabilized enough for him to be discharged.

The relative said that Abd al-Rahman, who is a father of five, was serving a three-month sentence in Beersheba prison after Israeli police caught him driving a vehicle without a drivers’ license. (T/P012/E01)
