Indonesian Ambassador: There is no Indonesian Affected by Mangkhut Typhoon in the Philippines

Jakarta, MINA – The Indonesian Ambassador to the Philippines, Sinyo Harry Sarundajang  has that said, there is no Indonesian affected by 265 km/hour speed of Mangkhut typhoon that hit the northern Philippines on Saturday.

“Thank God, until now there are no Indonesian citizens who are affected,” he told MINA at the Indonesian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Wednesday.

Previously ut was eported, at least 74 people died, 74 people were injured and 55 oyjers were missing. This natural phenomenon also hit Hong Kong on Sunday that caused damage in the city of Vigan, north of the Philippines.

The giant typhoon destroyed the forest, toppled electricity poles, cities and damaged important rice plants. On Monday, emergency workers evacuated 43 bodies from landslides in the remote northern city of Itogon, Philippines.

Meanwhile, 391 people are reported injured by falling debris when the wind hit the city, breaking hundreds of trees and causing deep flooding in low-lying areas such as Hang Fa Chuen and Siu Sai Wan.

Several major airlines in China and Hong Kong were also forced to cancel their flights on Sunday. Hong Kong International Airport experienced a travel disruption with nearly 900 flights suspended or canceled.

The United Nations Disaster Management and Global Coordination System estimated that 43.4 million people will be affected by the Mangkhut storm if the hurricane does not disappear quickly. (TL / R04/RS5)
