Indonesia Wins Bronze Medal at the International Economy Olympics

Jakarta, MINA  –  Indonesian student Ricky Suhartono Iskandar won the bronze medal at the First International Economics Olympic in Moscow, Russia on September 15-21.

Based on written information received in Jakarta, Wednesday, the Olympics was organized by the Higher School of Economics and participated by 13 countries.

The Ambassador of Indonesia to the Russian Federation concurrently the Republic of Belarus, M. Wahid Supriyadi expressed his high appreciation and congratulations for the participation and success of the Indonesian student team at the Olympics.

“Congratulations to the Economic Olympiad Team from Indonesia,” he said.

Indonesia through the Ministry of Education and Culture of the Republic of Indonesia has sent three participants, namely Shania Rahmi, student at MAN 2 Model Pekanbaru (Riau), and Frisca Thursandi Setyaningrum, student at MAN Insan Cendekia (Gorontalo), and Ricky Suhartono Iskandar, Petra Surabaya Christian High School students (East Java).

Besides Indonesia, other countries such as Russia, the United States, Brazil, Austria, Malaysia, Ireland, Kazakhstan, Latvia, Myanmar, New Zealand, Spain, and Switzerland.

The gold medal was won by 10 participants from Russia, Brazil, New Zealand, and Kazakhstan. The silver medal was obtained by 11 participants. Meanwhile, the bronze medal by 17 participants, including one participant from Indonesia.

The Deputy Chairman of Indonesia Olympic team Wiji Purwanta accompanied the Indonesian participants and expressed hope that the achievements of the Indonesian students could motivate all students who study economics. (T/Sj/RS5)
