EIGHT NEW AFGHAN LAWMAKERS TAKES OATH IN AFGHAN PARLIAMENT

     Kabul, 15 Dzulhijjah 1434/20 October 2013 (MINA) – Eight newly introduced parliament members took oath on Saturday, shortly after a number of the Afghan lawmakers resigned from their position due to presidential elections.

     The new lawmakers include Qudratullah Sahak, Haji Abdul Qadir, Semin Barekzai, Haji Mehdawi, Smarak Padkhwabi, Wali Niazi, Ehsan Sahibzada and Abdul Qaderi Zazai Watandost.

     Lawmakers who were swon in on Saturday, replaced Abdul Rab Rasool Sayyaf, Hussain Alemi, Syed Hussain Anwari, Ibrahim Qasemi, Sayed Ishaq Gilani, Abdul Ahad Afzali, Mohammad Mohaqiq and Shahnawaz Hemati.

    All the lawmakers except Shahnaw Hemati who passed away due to a road accident, resigned from the Afghan parliament due to presidential elections, Khamaa Press reported as quoted by Mi’raj News Agency (MINA), Sunday  (3/10).

    Semin Barekzai was among the nine Afghan lawmakers who was disqualifed by Afghan Election Commission after the final scrutiny results were announced on the controversial parliament election results.

    Ms Barekzai said that she was delighted that she received another opportunity to receive another opportunity to serve the Afghan people as a young member of the parliament. (T/P012/E1)
