Samarinda, MINA – Borneo FC trailed Persib Bandung 0-1 throughout the first half of their 2025/2026 BRI Super League super match at Segiri Stadium in Samarinda, a packed stadium filled with home fans on Sunday.

The Maung Bandung (Bandung Tiger) squad’s goal was scored by former Borneo FC player Adam Alis (18), who served as the visiting team captain.

The second half was a tight affair, with the home team increasing their attacking prowess. However, Maung Bandung’s solid defense and goalkeeper Teja Paku Alam’s (14th) performance thwarted several chances for the home team.

In the 79th minute, the referee stopped play to check the VAR on the off-field monitor. The scene highlighted was an incident where the ball allegedly touched the hand of Uilliam Barros (94) in the Persib Bandung penalty area.

Two minutes later, the referee awarded a penalty.

Mariano Peralta (10) then stepped up to take the penalty.

The Argentine coolly outwitted goalkeeper Teja Paku Alam. Peralta’s shot left Teja in the lurch, though it wasn’t powerful, but the goalkeeper was caught off guard.

Goal. The score was tied at 1-1 in the 84th minute.

In the 91st minute, the referee again reviewed a possible penalty for Borneo player Komang Teguh (16) bringing down a Bandung player in the penalty box.

After reviewing footage from various angles, the referee ruled it was not a foul. This further heightened the tension of the match with injury time remaining.

Kei Hirose became the hero

Beckham Putra nearly made the difference when he received a through ball. Beckham raced forward, met goalkeeper Nadeo Argawinata (1). However, Beckham was able to beat Nadeo by dribbling the ball slightly to the side.

By the time the Indonesian player shot diagonally at goal, two Borneo players had already run to the goal to replace Nadeo.

When Beckham took a shot on target, the ball hit the back of the head of Kei Hirose (8), who blocked it. The ball failed to enter the goal.

Beckham Putra knelt, speechless, as if in disbelief that Kei Hirose, not himself, was the hero who saved Borneo’s game.

The 1-1 scoreline remained the same when the referee blew the final whistle, ending the match.
