As 20 Countries to Attend 2019 Indonesia International Book Fair

Jakarta, MINA – As 20 friendly countries are ready to attend the 39th Indonesia International Book Fair (IIBF) in 2019 organized Indonesian Publisher Association (IKAPI) and Indonesian Creative Economy Agency (Bekraf).

“Tomorrow IKAPI will hold 2019 IIBF which taking place on September 4 to 8, 2019, at the Jakarta Convention Center (JCC) Hall A, Senayan,” said IKAPI Chairperson, Rosidayati Rozalina or familiarly called Ida at 2019 IIBF media conference in Jakarta on Monday, September 2.

Previously, IKAPI bears the name of Indonesia Book Fair (IBF) in 1980, since 2014 this event has been transformed into going international or so-called IIBF.

“Since 2014, IKAPI has begun to hold book fairs as well as international transactions. We (IKAPI) will continue to commit the holding and developing IIBF to support Indonesian publishers to interact and cooperate with international publishers,” she said.

IIBF is not only supported by Bekraf but since 2017 has also received support from the Ministry of Education and Culture. As for this event included several activities related to bookkeeping in the form of promotions, transactions, discussions, and interactions among publishers, writers, librarians, literacy activists, arts, culture, education, and other creative industries.

The 2019 IIBF carries the theme “Empowering Creative People in a Creative Way” which is to empower creative people creatively as later making films whose stories are taken from books.

“This year, we created a new program titled “Indonesia Partnership Program”, namely by inviting international publishers to transact with various Indonesian publishers at the event IIBF 2019, ” she added.

In addition, Chairman of the 2019 IIBF Committee, Djadja Subagdja explained that IIBF also provided Kalap Zone, a place for selling books with massive discounts of up to 90 percent from various publishers.

In the exhibition, there will also be announcements and awards for Ikapi Awards, namely book awards given to three categories, best book (best writer of the year), best writer (best writer of the year), and selected figures who play a role in literacy promotion (promoters literacy).

In addition, there will be talk shows, meet, and greet with famous writers, regional dance competitions, literacy tours, robotics competitions, and writing training. (TL/Sj/P2)
