JEWISH SETTLERS ATTACK PALESTINIAN HOUSES IN NABLUS
Nablus, 16 Rabiul Akhir 1434 H/25 February 2013 (MINA) – Dozens of Jewish settlers attacked Palestinian homes in Qasra village, south of Nablus, on Saturday (23/2) afternoon, and destroy olive trees.
Ghassan Daghlas, who in charge of monitoring the settlements in West Bank said that the settlers came from the nearby Aish Kodesh.
Helmi Abbul-Aziz (24) a resident of Nablus wounded by a shot in his abdomen while blocking attacks. Soon after he was rushed to a nearby hospital, according to a report published in occupiedpalestine.wordpress.com monitored by Mi’raj News Agency (MINA), Monday.
“The Jewish settlers threw stones at Palestinian homes in the east of the village, they also destroyed dozens of olive trees in the same area,” he said.
A Palestinian hospital official and two villagers said that Abdul-Aziz was in serious condition after being shot in the stomach. Medical officers asked to hide his name because he was not authorized to speak to the media.
An Israeli military spokesman said about 150 Palestinians and 25 settlers were involved in the clash. When flames seen, Israeli police quickly dispersed them by shotting them.
Residents who witnessed the collision, Basem Nazal and Abdul Azim-Wadi, said that Israeli forced Palestinian used tear gas, grenades and bullets, but no fire there.
According to the Palestinian witnesses, the clashes began when a group of Jewish settlers chase Palestinian farmers and their families in the village. As a reaction to these events, other residents helped repeling the settlers. Consequently stone were throwing between the two sides.
Villages in south of Nablus is the main target of their attack because the area was surrounded by Israeli settlers that no help came from other Palestinians.
There are about 300,000 Israeli settlers living in the West Bank. While the international community condemning those settlement construction because it is built illegally on Palestinian land. Territory Israel captured in the 1967 Middle East war.
The clashes coincided with widespread demonstrations occurring throughout the West Bank in supporting the prisoners who tortured in Israeli custody. (T/P04/E1)
