Jakarta, MINA – The Aqsa Working Group (AWG), an Indonesian pro-Palestinian organization, has welcomed the inclusion of the Boycott, Divestment, and Sanctions (BDS) Bill in the National Legislative Program (Prolegnas) of Indonesia’s House of Representatives (DPR).
AWG described the move as a concrete step in Indonesia’s support for Palestine’s struggle for independence and opposition to Zionist Israeli colonialism.
In a statement received by MINA on Friday, AWG noted that the bill’s inclusion in Prolegnas is a significant development resulting from civil society advocacy and support from various institutions. AWG Presidium Chairman M. Anshorullah acknowledged the roles of the Indonesian BDS Movement, DPR, the People’s Aspiration Body (BAM), the Inter-Parliamentary Cooperation Body (BKSAP), and the Legislative Body (Baleg) in advancing the bill. Official DPR documents list the BDS Bill among proposed legislation prepared by the House.
Anshorullah emphasized that the bill’s inclusion is not the end of the struggle but the beginning of a legislative process that must be collectively monitored. AWG urges the DPR to deliberate the BDS Bill seriously, transparently, and with public participation.

The bill is expected to have strong substance and be effectively implemented. AWG believes the BDS Bill should serve as a legal instrument to promote boycott, divestment, and sanctions against parties involved in the colonization and genocide of the Palestinian people.
AWG called on all elements of civil society to continue monitoring the bill until it is enacted into law. The organization also encourages the government and DPR to make support for Palestine a tangible part of Indonesia’s political, economic, trade, and international relations policies—a step AWG says aligns with the constitutional mandate and Indonesia’s history of opposing colonialism and supporting Palestine’s independence.
AWG also invites the Indonesian public to strengthen the boycott movement against products and entities involved in Zionist Israeli colonialism as a form of solidarity with Palestine.[]
