Al-Quds, MINA – Nael Barghouti, a Palestinian former detainee released from Zionist prisons, has warned of the worsening physical conditions of detainees held in prisons.

Speaking on Monday, Barghouti said that although he and several others have been released, they were subjected to forced deportation from their homes, Quds Press reported.

He said deportation represents an extension of prisoners’ suffering and an attempt by the occupation to turn the “joy of freedom” into another form of punishment and collective deprivation.

Barghouti noted that around 180 released detainees are currently residing in Egypt under difficult humanitarian conditions, suffering from instability, constant anxiety, and increasing psychological and social pressure. He added that about 60 detainees were deported to Türkiye.

He highlighted the scale of the family tragedy faced by those deported, as they are unable to reunite with their wives and children, describing this as a blatant violation of the “right of return” and international law.

He added that the suffering is compounded by the refusal of several countries to accept them, turning their release into yet another humanitarian crisis.

Barghouti called on international human rights and humanitarian organizations to take immediate action to end deportation practices and to guarantee the rights of released detainees.

He also urged Arab and Islamic countries to play an active role in finding urgent humanitarian solutions and to ensure a dignified stay for the freed detainees until they are able to return to their homes and reunite with their families.[]
