New Zealand Scholarship Alumni Gathering 2018
Jakarta, MINA – Coinciding with 60th Anniversary of Indonesia-New Zealand bilateral relationship, New Zealand Embassy, Tuesday (5/5), initiated this significant New Zealand Alumni gathering to strengthen relationship between the two countries through people-to-people connection in Jakarta.
New Zealand has providing scholarships to talented young Indonesians to take post graduate studies and thematic short-term courses since the Colombo Plan in 1950s.
For sixty years, these alumni have strengthened frienship between Indonesia and New Zealand.
“One of New Zealand’s development cooperation goals is for Indonesians to successfully gain skills and qualifications from New Zealand and contribute to development in Indonesia,” said New Zealand Ambassador to Indonesia Trevor Matheson.
He said, Tito Karnavian, the current Chief of Indonesia National Police, Nenny Saptadji and Pri Utami both prominent geothermal expert, are just a few of New Zealand alumni that we are proud of their contribution to Indonesia.
The Chair of New Zealand Alumni network in Indonesia (NZID) emphasized that studying in New Zealand is a life-changing experience.
“New Zealand education taught me about critical thinking and to be more pro-active,” she said.(L/R04/RS5)
