ZIONIST MUNICIPALTY FORCES PALESTINIAN FAMILY TO DEMOLISH PART OF HOME

Jerusalem, 27 Rabiul Akhir 1435 / 27 February 2014 (MINA) A Palestinian family in Jerusalem on Wednesday was forced to demolish part of their house in the neighborhood of Sha’fat in Jerusalem after the Israeli occupation West Jerusalem municipality issued an order to demolish it, according to the owner.

The owner told WAFA that they were forced to demolish, with their own hands, part of their home, which they have recently added to the house to shelter a recently married family member and his wife.

 He said they were threatened by the municipality that if they didn’t demolish it they will do it for them, costing them a large sum of money they will have to pay to the Israeli Municipality to demolish it, WAFA, Palestinian News & Info Agency quoted by Mi’raj Islamic News Agency (MINA) as reporting.

Palestinian Building Licenses Down in Q4

Meanwhile from Ramallah, WAFA reported that the total number of building licenses issued in the fourth quarter of 2013 in the Palestinian Territory reached 2,137, registering a decrease by 3.7% compared to third quarter of 2013, a press release by the Palestinian Central Bureau of Statistics (PCBS) said on Wednesday.

The total number of building licenses issued for the fourth quarter of 2013 increased by 1.8% compared to the fourth quarter of 2012, added PCBS.

The area of licensed buildings (residential and non-residential) totaled 855 thousand square meters, of which new buildings made up 683 thousand square meters and existing buildings 127 thousand square meters.

The press release said the total number of licensed dwellings was 3,801, of which 2,927 were new units with a total area of 508,200 square meters and 874 were existing dwellings with a total area of 152,000 square meters.

The number of new dwellings in the fourth quarter of 2013 decreased by 25.4% compared to the third quarter of 2013 while it decreased by 20.3% compared with the fourth quarter of 2012. . (T/E01/IR)
