Sudanese Ambassador Holds Dialogue and Iftar with Figures and Journalists
Jakarta, MINA – Sudanese Ambassador to Indonesia DR. Elsiddieg Abdulaziz Abdalla held an iftar and dialogue with figures and journalists from several media, including MINA News Office, at his residence, Jakarta, Thursday.
Ambassador Abdalla warmly welcomed the guests, including Executive Director of Muslim Youth Forum on International Issues Muhammad Anthony who was present at the event.
“Welcome to our home, with us meeting, sitting together and having a dialogue, so that we can exchange information about Indonesia’s current conditions, and certainly the situation in Sudan,” Ambassador Abdalla said in his speech.
Guests are seen enjoying the Iftar and dinner with Sudanese dishes and drinks as well as some Indonesian dishes.
On the occasion, there were also held a Ramadhan series dialogue event which discussed several domestic and international issues, including the current Indonesian situation related to the 2019 general election and regarding the condition of Sudan which is currently still in transition.
When there was a question about Sudan’s current condition, Ambassador Abdalla answered emphatically, what happened to Sudan at this time was not a coup.
“The fall of President Omar Bashir was not a coup, but the demands of Sudanese people. I emphasize that this is not a coup, negotiations are still going on between the Sudanese people who want a government based on the Sudanese people and military, “Ambassador Abdalla said.
He explained, Sudan is currently facing serious challenges, especially economic and security issues. For this reason, Sudanese Supreme Court is looking for a solution to unite all parties. “The most important thing in resolving this problem is with a wisdom,” said Ambassador Abdalla.
Ambassador Abdalla said that Sudan had suffered economic sanctions from the United States for 21 years, thus making the condition of Sudanese people facing a serious crisis, unable to export and import goods from the US and its allies, causing many undergraduates to be unemployed.
He considered Indonesia to be a country rich in natural resources. “Don’t waste your natural resources directly, think about this for future generations,” Ambassador Abdalla added. (L/Sj/R04)
