MIKTA States Accredited to the Holy See to Hold Counter-Terrorism Seminar

Vatican City, MINA – During a working luncheon at the residence of the Indonesian Ambassador to the Holy See, MIKTA Head of Missions accredited to the Holy See (Mexico, Indonesia, Republic of Korea, Turkey, and Australia) agreed to hold a seminar on counter-terrorism. Indonesian Ambassador, A. Agus Sriyono, Korean Ambassador, Baek Man Lee, Turkish Ambassador, Mehmet Pacaci, Australian Ambassador, Melissa L. Hitchman, and Deputy Head of Mission of Mexican Embassy were all present in the luncheon.

The issue of counter-terrorism was selected as it is one of the 7 top issues MIKTA focuses on. Experts on terrorism prevention, countermeasures, and rehabilitation of perpetrators are expected to serve as key speakers in the seminar planned to be organized in October 2018 in collaboration with one of the most prominent universities in the Vatican, Indonesian Ministry of Foreign Affairs reported, Wednesday (28/2).

Indonesia is currently acting as the coordinator of MIKTA and has its focus on strengthening creative economy and global peace. Apart from high level meetings, the country will also execute a number of outreach and people-cantered programs, such as: MIKTA Goes to Campus, MIKTA FUN Walk, Workshop on Women in Peacekeeping, etc.

MIKTA was officially founded in 2013 which aims at strengthening global governance and protecting global public goods through innovative inter regional collaboration. MIKTA also aspires to play the role of consensus maker and bridge builder amongst developing and developed countries.(R/R04/RS5)
