MALAYSIAN STUDENTS HOLD A STUDY-VISIT TO ALFATAH SCHOOLS

Malaysian students arrived at Soekarno-Hatta International Airport, Friday (12/7).

Jakarta, 23 Muharram 1434/7 Desember 2012 (MINA) – Over 100 Malaysian students and their accompanying teachers have arrived for a 10-day study visit to Pesantren (Islamic Boarding Schools) Al Fatah at Lampung, Sumatera and Bogor, West Java.

The first group consisting of 73 students and their tutors have arrived at Soekarno-Hatta International Airport, Jakarta, on Thursday. The last group of 22 students led by the activity’s advisor Dr. Rahimah bin Embong arrived on Friday afternoon.

They were welcomed at the airport by Yakhsyallah Mansur, Al Fatah’s chairman for organizing the visit program in Indonesia. After a handover ceremony from Dr. Rahimah to Mansur, the group continued their journey overland to Al Fatah Boarding School at Natar, Lampung.

Dr. Rahimah expressed a hope that her students will be able to take the benefits and experience from the study visit program at Al Fatah, and be able to identify their origins as the Caliphate generation which has become their mandate since born.

The students consist of 50 Imtiaz (Secondary School) and 46 students of University Islam Antarbangsa Malaysia (International Islamic University of Malaysia) linked with the Petaling Jaya-based, Kelantan, Kelab Perkim, a religious organization established by Tunku Abdul Rahman Putra in 1990.

The study-visit program of the Malaysian students to Indonesia has Malaysian Defense Minister Datuk Seri Dr. Ahmad Zahid Hamidi as the patron and Bro Izdihar Ishak, Ustaz Wan Zikri Qamaruddin and Dr. Siti Rohimi Hamedon of UIAM as advisors. Chair of the program is Ustadz Azharizan bin Yaakub.

Under the theme of “Kembara Santri” (Wandering Students) the students from Malaysia will learn and study Islamic books as well as take part in othe related activites including sharing together, outbound and self-development training tutored by teachers from Al Fatah.

They will be at Lampung for seven days they and spend the last three days at Al Fatah Boarding School at Cileungsi, Bogor.

In his previous remarks on the program, Imam Muhyidin Hamidy, chair of the Al Fatah Islamic Boarding School Network, hoped the students from Malaysia will be able to learn the Islamic education system administered in a Pesantren style, an indigenous Indonesian method for educating the younger generation of Muslim.

The Pesantren method, Imam Hamidy said, is characterized by a modest living environs where the students not only learn and study the Islamic teachings, but also learn on strengthening themselves mentally.

Graduates of Pesantren will not only be conversant with Islamic and general knowledge, but also familiar with living independently in A healthy way, Imam Hamidy added.

The first Al Fatah school at Cileungsi, Bogor, was founded by Imam Hamidy in 1980. Now Al Fatah has a network spread all over Indonesia with a total of 23 boarding schools with over 30,000 students. (L/R-010/R-018/R-03/R-07).
