Beirut, 17 Safar 1436/10 December 2014 (MINA) – The Lebanese military court accused Saja al-Dulaimi (ex-wife of the leader of the Islamic State (IS/ISIS), Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi) of “terrorism”, while it released Alaa Aqili, wife of the Nusra Front’s commander Abu Ali Shishani, a Lebanese judicial source said on Tuesday.

The source said that the military prosecutor charged al-Dulaimi with “terrorism”, but released Aqili on Tuesday and handed her over to the Lebanese General Security, ARA News quoted by Mi’raj Islamic News Agency (MINA) as reporting.

The Lebanese Interior Minister Nihat Mashnooq said Wednesday that al-Dulaimi, who was arrested by the Lebanese army two weeks ago, was the former wife of the Islamic State’s leader, Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi.

The Iraqi Interior Ministry announced last week that al-Dulaimi is the sister of Omar Abdel Hamid al-Dulaimi, who is detained by the Iraqi authorities and convicted of participating in bombing operations in a number of areas in Iraq.

In the meantime, the Qatari Foreign Ministry expressed on Monday their inability to continue the mediation efforts for the release of the detained Lebanese soldiers held by al-Nusra and IS group in Syria’s Kalamoon area.

The Qatari mediator met several times with officials from the Lebanese government and the kidnappers in an attempt to find a solution to the exchange of prisoners that may save lives of the detained Lebanese soldiers. (T/P001/R03)
