KAREEM SALEEM BORDER CROSSING REOPENED
Kareem, Rafah, 16 Jumadil Awwal 1435/17 March 2014 (MINA) – Israel reopened Kareem Abu Saleem border crossing linking Gaza to the occupied land after they closed it a few days ago following latest exchanges of rockets between Israel and resistance in Gaza.
“Today it’s open and Israeli occupation has allowed a limited amount of fuel to pass the border crossing to generate electricity generators”, Spokesman of Resources Ministry in the Gaza Strip, Ahmad Abu Al Umrain , told Miraj Islamic News Agency (MINA) correspondent in Gaza, Palestine, on Sunday.
“Hopefully tomorrow will begin allocation process of fuel for power generators, then start rationing electricity available”, he added.
He emphasized that the amount of fuel through the border only reached hundred thousand liters of diesel, which according to Al Amrain still short of filling the needs of the electric generator plants there. Even that amount would not be enough for one day, said Al Amrain.
“Tomorrow they will send fuel again to generate electricity generators in Gaza, the border will operate normally until the next days, “he explained.
Israel closed the border on Wednesday (12/3) a day after militants in Gaza fired dozens of rockets in retaliation for the Israeli and Egypt long-term blockade of the Gaza strip. Israeli occupation forces immediately closed the border which is currently used as the only gate that allows entry of goods to meet the basic needs of the people of Gaza.(L/K01/P03/E01)
