West Bank, MINA – The Israeli occupation authority has issued tenders for the construction of 627 new housing units in the illegal settlement of Kokhav Yaakov in the West Bank, according to the Palestinian Colonization and Wall Resistance Commission, the Palestine Information Center reports.
The Israel Land Authority published the tender for the project last Thursday. It will be built on land in the Ramallah and al-Bireh governorate, the Commission said on Saturday.
The IOA set November 30 as the deadline for construction companies to submit bids, moving the project from planning to construction just 15 months after it was first approved, the Commission added. The new project covers 253.7 dunums and was originally approved by the IOA on April 27, 2025.
The Commission slammed the settlement expansion project, saying it is designed to “deepen the separation between Jerusalem and its Palestinian surroundings.” The settlement of Kokhav Yaakov sits between northern Jerusalem and the twin cities of Ramallah and al-Bireh, within a cluster of settlements administered under the name “Binyamin.”

The move comes amid ongoing Israeli settlement expansion across the occupied West Bank, which Palestinians and international bodies consider illegal under international law. Settlement construction continues to undermine the viability of a two-state solution by fragmenting Palestinian territory and expanding Israeli control over occupied land.[]
