Iran calls for development of economic ties with China

       Beijing, 22 Rabiul Akhir 1434/4 March 2013 (MINA)  – Iranian Ambassador to China Mehdi Safari, in a meeting with Iranian residents in Guangdong province, stressed the expansion of economic ties between Iran and China.

      ˈIranian merchants should do their best to increase trade exchanges with China in particular in field of exports,ˈ Safari said, according to Iranian news agency (IRNA) reports monitored by Mi’raj News Agency (MINA), Monday.

        Iranian economic activists in China conferred their problems with the envoy in this meeting.

         Consul General of the Islamic Republic of Iran in Guangzhou Alireza Salarian reported his officeˈs activities in facilitating trade exchange between the two countries in a ceremony held to celebrate the opening of new building of Iranian consulate there.

          China, like Russia, has consistently opposed the US pressures on Iran and the Westˈs economic sanctions imposed on the Iranian financial sector and petroleum products.

          China has refused to comply with US requests to decrease oil imports from Iran and instead has increased its trade with the country.

          Trade between Iran and China in the past year was estimated at $45 billion. (T/P08/E1)
