INDONESIA’S EXPORT RISES ON SEPTEMBER

Jakarta, 11  Muharram 1436/4 November 2014 (MINA) – Indonesia Non-oil exports reached $12.7 billion or rises 6.5 percent on September 2014 compared to the previous month.

“Non-oil exports rises on September and it encourages optimism because the growth increases 6.5 percent compared with last month,” said Indonesia Trade Minister, Rahmat Gobel Tuesday.

Meanwhile, oil and gas exports reached $2.6 billion of the total exports $15.3 billion on September. Gobel said oil and gas exports increased 0.9 percent compared with last month, or 8.6 percent compared with last year, Antaranews quoted by Mi’raj Islamic News Agency (MINA) as reporting on tuesday.

Nevertheless, the increase of non oil exports was also followed by the increase of imports, so that the national trade balance suffered deficit in September 2014.

Increasing non-oil export commodities included iron ore, crust, metal ash, jewelry or gems, wood and wood arts.

Export of iron ore, crust and metal rises 57.8 percent, while jewelry and gems rises 25.8 percent and wood arts 21.1 percent compared with the previous month.

Manufacturing exports also increased, such as machinery or mechanical appliances rising  11.1 percent, knitted goods 16.5 percent and apparel not knitted 14.2 percent.

In addition, exports to emerging markets increased significantly 49 percent compared with last month,

The value of exports during January to September 2014decreased 0.9 percent compared with last year.

Gobel said he will coordinate with related ministries to boost exports for various commodities, such as agricultural , marine and manufacturing products.(T/P009/R03)
