Indonesian Students Win Karate Championship in Luxembourg

Jakarta, MINA – Five Indonesian students won first place in the 2019 International karate sports championship in Luxembourg, a country in Western Europe.

At the karate championship called Coupe Internationale De Kayl 2019 which was held in Luxembourg on October 15-21, 2019. Indonesia won first place with seven medals consisting of six gold and one silver.

The students are alumni of the National Student Sports Olympiad (O2SN).

Director of Middle School Development (Dit.PSMP) Ministry of Education and Culture (Kemendikbud), Poppy Dewi Puspitawati, said the success of junior high school students could motivate other students.

“We are very happy because this is a place for children. It turns out that if children are given the opportunity, given training, given appreciation, they can show their talents. Even when viewed from the team, with six gold medals, Indonesia became the overall champion. Because there are no teams from other countries that achieved more than the Indonesian team, “Poppy explained in a written statement received by MINA on Thursday, October 24.

As an appreciation, the Ministry of Education and Culture gave a coaching prize of Rp. 12.5 million for gold medalists and Rp. 10 million for silver medalists.

In addition, the ministry also provides tablet computers to every student who competes at the international level.

“In line with Minister of Education and Culture’s policy, which is the digitalization of schools, we give tablets to all children who compete abroad,” Poppy said.

The Couple Internationale De Kayl 2019 is an International Karate championship between students held in Luxembourg, Europe. It was attended by 721 athletes from 15 countries. In 2019, Ministry of Education and Culture sent six athletes consisting of 3 men and 3 women for the Kata and Kumite categories. (T/Sj/P2)
