Indonesian Muslim Scholar Hashim Muzadi Passes Away

Jakarta, 17 Jumadil Akhir 1438/16 March 2017 (MINA) – Former Chairman of the Nahdatul Ulama  (NU)  Ahmad Hashim Muzadi passed away this Thursday morning at 6:15 am  local time in Malang, East Java.

The  information was clarified by one of the NU leaders  A. Mustafa Bisri known as Gus Mus in his official Twitter account.

“Inna Lillahi wainnã Ilaihi rãji’űn. We lost again a figure, former General Chairman of NU, KH. Hashim Muzadi. Hopefully he get Husnul khatimah (the good end),” wrote Gus Mus.

Meanwhile Minister of Religious Affairs Lukman Hakim Saifuddin, delivered the sad news and also invited all Muslim communitites in the country to pray for him.

” KH. Hashim passed away this morning. Let’s pray for him. Al-Fatiha ..,” Lukman wrote in his official Twitter account.

Based on the plan, he will be flown from Malang to Al-Hikam Depok, West Java after midday.

Previously Hashim was hospitalized in Lavalette, Malang, because of his health continuesly  to decline. President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) also had visited the late Hashim on Wednesday.

He was born in Bangilan, Tuban, East Java, on August 8, 1944 or 72 years ago.

He also currently serves as a member of the Presidential Advisory Council (Watimpres) in the reign of President Joko Widodo and sworn in on January 19, 2015.

In addition, he had been a keynote speaker at the ICIM (International Conference of Islamic Media) held by Jama’ah Muslimin (Hizbullah) and Mi’raj Islamic News Islamic News Agency (MINA) in Jakarta in May 2016 and even though he was not well.(L/RS3/RE1)
