Jakarta, 17 Sya’ban 1437/26 May 2016 (MINA) – Hasyim Muzadi, a member of the presidential advisory council, has proposed an association of Muslim journalists to encourage comprehensive reporting in the Islamic world.

“I propose an association of Muslim journalists after this (International Conference of Islamic Media/ICIM). We should not only come up with ideas but also form the association of Muslim media,” he said while addressing the conference here Wednesday.

The association  should not only convey Islamic arguments but also emphasize rationalization from the essence of noble values, he said.

In addition, the media also plays a role in disseminating true stories instead of misleading stories among Muslims worldwide, he said.

Muzadi said that by providing less comprehensive stories, the public may give irrelevant responses to the essence of problems, Antara reported, as quoted by Mi’raj Islamic News Agency (MINA).

One of the factors causing Muslims to commit violence is the lack of comprehensive stories, he said.

“Lack of information makes somebody unaware of the real problems. Preachers are ready to struggle, but they do not understand, and are not well informed of the problems. Dont let this happen,” he said. (T/R07/R01)
