Jakarta, MINA – Influencer and humanitarian activist Annisa Theresia has firmly voiced her rejection of Indonesia’s planned involvement in the Board of Peace (BoP). She argues that the initiative potentially legitimizes the occupation of Gaza and ignores the fundamental rights of the Palestinian people.
Theresia delivered her remarks during an Aqsa Working Group (AWG) webinar titled “The Board of Peace and Indonesia’s Dilemma Between Global Realities and Loyal Promises to Palestine,” held on Sunday night and broadcast via the AWG YouTube channel.
According to Theresia, those pushing the BoP concept represent groups with neocapitalist and neoimperialist agendas. She claims their goal is to seize Palestinian land under the guise of peace without involving the Palestinians themselves.
“When we face people who clearly have a neocapitalist-neoimperialist agenda, the goal is land occupation. They want to control Gaza, bypass the people who actually have rights to that land, and then claim this as their version of peace,” said Theresia, who is commonly known as Tere.

She warned that joining a forum like the Board of Peace risks dragging Indonesia into a circle of entities with track records of human rights violations.
“We would be among a group of problematic individuals. There are pedophiles, Iraqi genocide experts, and notorious killers. Consequently, we would be seen as peers—as part of that group,” she stated.
Tere emphasized that Indonesians have a constitutional right to express their opinions and exercise collective political control as part of civil society. This includes scrutinizing Indonesia’s foreign policy regarding Palestine, Gaza, and the Board of Peace.
“In Islam, the least we can do is pray, and the most we can do is take action. At the very least, we must speak out. This [BoP] is wrong under this country’s positive law and fundamentally wrong according to the spiritual beliefs of any religion. The concept of justice is clear,” she added.

In contrast, the Indonesian government views participation in the Board of Peace as a strategic move to support the Palestinian struggle, particularly in safeguarding Gaza’s future following Israeli military aggression.
According to the official website of the Ministry of Administrative and Bureaucratic Reform (Kemenpan-RB), Indonesia’s involvement aims to ensure the Gaza transition leads toward a two-state solution rather than becoming a permanent arrangement that neglects Palestinian rights.
President Prabowo Subianto stated on January 22, 2026, that involvement in the BoP is a historic chance to push for peace. “I believe this is a historic opportunity to truly achieve peace in Gaza. Clearly, the suffering of the people in Gaza has been greatly reduced. Humanitarian aid is flowing in rapidly. Indonesia is ready to participate,” Prabowo said, as reported by the State Secretariat.[]
