Jakarta, MINA – Indonesian Foreign Minister Sugiono has stated that Indonesia reaffirms its commitment to consistently striving for peace in the Middle East and independence for Palestine.

“Indonesia expresses its solidarity with Qatar and reiterates its commitment to peace in the Middle East, including steadfast support for Palestinian independence,” quoted from an upload on Foreign Minister Sugiono’s X account on Monday.

According to the post, Sugiono, representing Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto, arrived in Doha, Qatar, to attend the emergency Arab-Islamic Summit held on Monday. The emergency summit discussed a draft resolution in response to recent Israeli attacks on several countries in the Middle East, particularly the Israeli attack on Doha on September 9, 2025.

The Indonesian Ministry of Foreign Affairs affirmed that Indonesia will always prioritize world peace and uphold international law. Indonesia’s participation in the meeting is also a form of its contribution to maintaining world order in accordance with the 1945 Constitution.

This participation follows up on President Prabowo’s steps, who conveyed solidarity directly to the Emir of Qatar, Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al-Thani, when Prabowo visited Doha on September 12, 2025. Prabowo affirmed Indonesia’s support for Qatar’s sovereignty and emphasized the importance of international solidarity, particularly in facing regional escalation.

Indonesia had previously issued a statement through its Ministry of Foreign Affairs in response to the Israeli attack on the Qatari capital, Doha, stating that the attack was a grave violation of international law and the UN Charter, a disregard for Qatar’s sovereignty, and a threat to peace in the Middle East.

“Indonesia condemns this aggression and reiterates its call for the UN Security Council to fulfill its mandate by taking immediate and decisive action to halt Israeli actions and ensure accountability,” as quoted from a statement on the @Kemlu_RI X account. []
