Jakarta, 1 Rajab 1436/18 April 2015 (MINA) – Indonesia to intensify triangular cooperation with Norway and Afghanistan within framework of North-South-South cooperation during the 60th Asian-African Conference Commemoration.

The representatives of Indonesia and Norway met in the sidelines of the event today to discuss the issue deeper.

“The representatives agreed to put into action the commitments by the President of the Republic of Indonesia Joko Widodo and the Prime Minister of the Kingdom of Norway Erna Solber to strengthen the mutually beneficial partnership between two countries and this issue,” Director General of America-Europe of Indonesia Foreign Ministry Dian Triansahdjani said.

He said Indonesia and Norway have jointly implemented a number of triangular cooperation projects with Afghanistan in the area of law enforcement, women empowerment and inclusive education.

“A group of female police officers from Afghanistan received training in community policing in Indonesia last year,” he said.

He also said there is an ongoing triangular projects aimed at improving inclusive education in Afghanistan through training and teacher exchange with Indonesia.

Meanwhile, Norway Ambassador for Indonesia express his appreciation for Indonesian government who stand on this issue.

The representatives shared the view that the ongoing triangular cooperation between the two has the potential to spur positive social development in Afghanistan.

The representatives also acknowledged that Indonesia’s development experience is of great relevance to other countries. They agreed to continue the cooperation within the South-South framework with the development goals and national priorities of all countries involved as guiding principles.

South-South cooperation has been an inseparable part for the partnership between the Asian-African countries that the 60th Commemoration of the Asian Africa Conference considers “Advancing South-South Cooperation” as the main theme.

The event attended by 86 delegation as well as 31 head of states and head of government.(L/R04/RO3)
