INDONESIA CONDEMNS ONGOING ISRAELI AIR STRIKES ON GAZA

Jakarta, 13 Ramadan 1435/11 July 2014 (MINA) –   Indonesian Foreign Affairs Minister Marty M. Natalegawa said Indonesia condemned the latest Israeli  occupation airstrikes against Gaza Strip that killed many innocent civilians.

Marty stressed that Israeli  occupation military aggression against the blockaded Gaza since last Tuesday creates new obstacles for the conducive situation to the peace process.

“Israeli occupation strikes need to be resisted. A military action added further sufferings to the Palestinian people in Gaza and the West Bank after the Zionist entity blockades against the Palestinian people, ” Marty said in a statement Thursday (10/7)

He revealed that the core problems is the occupation by Israel must be ended by the peace negotiation process in order to achieve the Palestinian independence.

Marty called on the United Nations Security Council, the United Nations in general and the whole international community to pressure Israel to immediately stop violence against Palestinian civilians in Gaza.

“The circle of violence in the region need to be stopped,” said Marty.

According to Indonesian representative in UN,  Indonesia will cooperate with the Palestinians, fellow countries of Non-Aligned Movement (NAM), the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) and other countries in encouraging the international concern about the developments in Gaza.

Since the beginning of Ramadan, Israel  have launched airstrikes on Gaza using the F-16 fighter aircraft, drones, and Apaches.

According to MINA correspondent in Gaza, the northern part of the Gaza Strip is an area that is exposed to a greater intensity of attacks compared to other areas in Gaza, where Israel since this last three weeks continuously bombard the area.

The Palestinian Health Ministry said 86 people had  killed  while 570 others were wounded at the end of third day of the strikes. (L/P03/E01)
