Jakarta, MINA – Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto and Egyptian President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi reaffirmed their countries’ commitment to a peaceful resolution of the Palestinian conflict and called for de-escalation across the Middle East during a joint press statement at Merdeka Palace in Jakarta on Sunday.

President Prabowo said the two leaders had exchanged views on various global and regional developments, emphasizing the importance of coordination and cooperation in addressing international challenges.

“We emphasize the importance of our two countries always coordinating, consulting, and cooperating in various international forums,” Prabowo said.

President El-Sisi echoed the importance of dialogue and diplomacy, warning that conflicts in different parts of the world threaten regional and global peace and stability.

The Egyptian president said both countries agreed that disputes should be resolved through diplomatic channels while respecting national sovereignty and avoiding interference in other countries’ internal affairs.

Regarding Palestine, Prabowo expressed deep concern over violence against civilians, Israeli military operations, settlement construction, and alleged violations of international law and human rights.

Indonesia maintains that the establishment of an independent Palestinian state through a two-state solution is essential to achieving lasting peace in the region.

“In our view, Indonesia especially, remains of the view that the realization of a Palestinian state based on the two-state solution is the only way to achieve peace in the region,” Prabowo said, reaffirming Indonesia’s support for the Palestinian people’s right to self-determination and to live in peace.

El-Sisi also emphasized that the Palestinian issue remains central to regional stability and was an important subject of discussion during his meeting with Prabowo.

He reiterated Egypt’s support for establishing an independent Palestinian state, describing it as the path toward comprehensive peace in the region.

“That is the only way to realize comprehensive peace,” El-Sisi stressed.

Beyond diplomatic initiatives, the two leaders agreed to continue supporting humanitarian assistance for Palestinians, including efforts to restore and rebuild Gaza after extensive destruction caused by the war.

Prabowo said Indonesia and Egypt remained committed to advancing the peace process and providing immediate humanitarian assistance to Palestinians, including supporting Gaza’s recovery and reconstruction.

On the wider Middle East situation, both presidents called for restraint, respect for national sovereignty, adherence to international law, and compliance with the United Nations Charter.

Prabowo warned that escalating conflicts could threaten civilian safety, undermine international stability, and disrupt the global economy.

“We continue to advocate for de-escalation, self-restraint, respect for sovereignty, international law, in accordance with the UN Charter, and emphasize the importance of dialogue and diplomacy,” he said.

He added that further escalation could have serious consequences for civilians and global economic stability.

The meeting formed part of ongoing efforts to strengthen the strategic partnership between Indonesia and Egypt and coordinate their positions on regional and international affairs.

Both countries have consistently supported Palestinian self-determination, an independent Palestinian state, and a two-state solution. The visit also provided an opportunity to discuss broader cooperation in areas including trade, investment, and education.

Egypt was among the first countries to recognize Indonesia’s independence in 1947, and the two nations have maintained diplomatic relations since then.
