Kowloon, MINA – Hong Kong emerged as champions of the FIFA ASEAN Cup 2026 Division 2 after defeating Cambodia 2-0 in the final at Kai Tak Stadium, Kowloon, on Saturday.

Playing before thousands of supporters packing the stands, Hong Kong took 41 minutes to break the deadlock.

In the 41st minute, Hong Kong forward Orr Matt (9) scored after receiving a cross from Sun Ming Him (23). Left unmarked, Orr Matt fired the ball into the net, unstoppable by Cambodian goalkeeper Soksela Keo (1).

The score shifted to 1-0 in favor of Hong Kong.

That scoreline held until halftime.

In the 54th minute, the referee conducted a VAR check regarding a potential penalty against Cambodia.

The incident under review involved Cambodian player Meng Chheng (20) stepping on the foot of Chan Philip (16) inside the penalty area.

The referee subsequently awarded a penalty.

Everton Camargo (11), stepping up as Hong Kong’s penalty taker, successfully scored from the spot. His composed finish outwitted goalkeeper Soksela Keo (1).

GOAL! The score became 2-0, extending Hong Kong’s lead.

Cambodia had their best chance in the 64th minute when Soknet Hav (14) won an aerial duel during a corner kick, but the ball went just wide of the right post.

Another opportunity arose in the 71st minute through Ty Sa (17), but pressure from a Hong Kong player caused his shot to go narrowly wide of the goal. Cambodia’s efforts proved fruitless, and they had to accept defeat when the final whistle blew.

The match ended 2-0, with Hong Kong crowned champions of the 2026 FIFA ASEAN Cup Division 2. []
