Jakarta, MINA – Vietnam staged a second-half comeback after trailing Pakistan 1-0 in the first half of their final Group B match in the FIFA ASEAN Cup 2026 Division 1 on Friday.
In the match held at the Gelora Bung Karno Main Stadium (SUGBK) in Jakarta, Vietnam scored four goals to secure a 4-2 victory.
In the 50th minute, Vietnam finally found the net through Hai Long Nguyen (18).
A through-ball allowed Hai Long to make a clear run into the penalty area. His shot successfully beat goalkeeper Yousuf Butt and two other Pakistani defenders.

GOAL! The score was leveled at 1-1.
In the 57th minute, Vietnam scored again through Hoang Duc Nguyen (14).
It began with a long ball from midfield to the right side of Pakistan’s half; Dinh Bac Nguyen (9), the intended target, sent a cross to Hoang Duc, who was positioned just outside the penalty area.
GOAL! Hoang Duc unleashed a rocket of a shot that was unstoppable, finding the back of the Pakistan net.

The score shifted to 2-1 in favor of Vietnam.
In the 80th minute, Dinh Bac—who had previously provided the assist for the second goal—scored one himself from a diagonal angle.
The setup was similar: a long pass to the right side of Pakistan’s half was well-controlled by Dinh Bac. This time, he fired a powerful shot directly at the goal.
GOAL! The diagonal shot from the player—who had come on at the start of the second half—beat goalkeeper Yousuf Butt.

The score stood at 3-1 for Vietnam.
Pakistan managed to pull a goal back in the 88th minute through Kaleem Ullah (7); a long-range shot by Ali Akbar Khan (13) deflected off Ullah’s foot, sending the ball veering away from the reach of the Vietnamese goalkeeper.
The score became 3-2. However, in stoppage time, Vietnam scored a decisive goal in the 91st minute. Dinh Bac once again provided the assist, this time to Minh Hoang William (11), whose deceptive shot beat goalkeeper Yousuf Butt.
GOAL! The score became 4–2, securing the win for Vietnam.

However, the victory was not enough to displace Thailand from the top of the Group B standings. []
