Gaza Tunnel Collapse Leaves 4 Casualties

Gaza, 28 Dzulhijjah 1437/30 September 2016 (MINA) – A Palestinian young man was killed and three others injured when a tunnel collapsed in Beit Hanon town, north Gaza Strip, on Thursday.

Spokesman of the Palestinian Ministry of Health Ashraf Al-Qudrah identified the victim as Ahmad Said Mait, 30 years, KUNA reported.

The Palestinian resistance groups in Gaza Strip use tunnels across the eastern and southern borders with Israel as a means of defence in case of military aggression by the Israeli occupation forces.

The tunnel is also useful to carry out attacks into Israeli territory.

In the 2006 Gaza cross-border raid, Palestinian militants used a tunnel to abduct Israeli soldier Gilad Shalit. (T/R07/R01)
