Fortuna Sittard’s Two Perfect Headers Silenced FC Volendam in the First Half

Volendam, MINA – FC Volendam hosted Fortuna Sittard at the Kras Stadium in the 27th round of the Dutch Eredivisie on Saturday.

FC Volendam started the match in 14th place, while Fortuna Sittard were 11th, five points behind.

The first half was dominated by the visitors’ attack.

After being denied three consecutive chances by the home goalkeeper, Kayne van Oevelen (1), Fortuna finally gained momentum in the 19th minute.

Down a goal, FC Volendam reacted aggressively, but Fortuna Sittard’s defense held firm.

Instead, the visitors scored their second goal in the 44th minute.

After some play swirling around the FC Volendam defense, Mohamed Ihattaren (52) sent a diagonal pass across the goal. The Moroccan’s pass was perfectly met by a header from Dimitrios Limnios (18).

The Greek player, with his back to goal, managed to place the ball beyond goalkeeper van Oevelen’s reach.
