Gaza, MINA – Latin Patriarch of Jerusalem Cardinal Pierbattista Pizzaballa on Saturday expressed his condolences over the killing of two Palestinian Christian women in an Israeli airstrike in Gaza City.
The Israeli military struck an apartment in the Rimal area of Gaza City, killing five people, including a mother and her daughter who were Christian, and injuring several others, according to medical sources cited by Anadolu.
Pizzaballa expressed his deep sorrow and grief over the deaths of the two Christian women and offered his condolences to their families. He said that the funeral ceremony would be held on Saturday at 12:00 local time (09:00 GMT) at the Saint Porphyrius Church in Gaza City.
Earlier on Saturday, the Greek Orthodox Church of Saint Porphyrius in Gaza City also expressed its condolences over the deaths of the two Christian women. In a post on its Facebook page, the church stated that Patriarchal Vicar Bishop Alexios, church priest Archimandrite Silas, and members of the congregation extended their “deepest condolences” to the families of the two victims.

The attack occurred despite a ceasefire agreement that has been in effect in the Gaza Strip since October 10, 2025. The Israeli military has killed more than 1,400 Palestinians and injured more than 5,000 others since the ceasefire, according to data from the Gaza Health Ministry.
Since October 2023, the Israeli military has killed more than 74,000 people and injured more than 175,000 others in a brutal offensive that has also destroyed 90% of Gaza’s infrastructure.[]
