EGYPT: CAR BOMB EXPLODED OUTSIDE POLICE HEADQUARTERS

Cairo, 22 Rabi’ul Awwal 1435/24 January 2014 (MINA) – A car bomb has exploded Friday morning (24/1) outside the police headquarters in Egypt’s capital, killing four people and wounding 51, Egypt’s Health Ministry says.

While according to Cairo-based SINAI as quoted by MINA said the blast killed at least three people and injuring 35 others. An unidentified man opened fire on the office building after the incident.

The explosion also damaged the building of the National Library and Archives of Egypt as well as several other buildings around the site. Black smoke billowing on the Cairo sky.

The blasts come on the eve of the third anniversary of the start of the 2011 revolution.

Previously, Interior Minister warned to tighten security offices and polices  ahead of the Egyptian revolution celebration that ousting Hosni Mobarak on January 25, 2011.

Besides, Anti-coup Alliance to held protest along with the celebration as well as their denial over military coup ousted Egypt’s first freely elected president Mohamed Morsi on July 3, 2013.

The Alliance said in Brotherhood official website  that their regular protest will always be carried out in peace and non-violence, despite security forces attacks and forcibly dispersal towards them. (T/P03/IR)
