ISRAEL BOMBS SOUTHERN LEBANON

Beirut, 30 Shawwal 1435/26 August 2014 (MINA) – Zionist Israeli occupation regime pounded southern Lebanon with 15 shells in response to rocket fire into Israel, a Lebanese security source said.

The source, who preferred not to be named, that Israel pounded the town of Al-Jarmaq in the southern Lebanon in response to rockets fired by unidentified sources into Israel. Middle East Monitor (MEMO) quoted by Mi’raj Islamic News Agency (MINA).

No information was immediately available from the Israeli or the Lebanese sides on the existence of material damages or casualties.

The Israeli army fired several artillery shells at the town of Abataisheh in southern Lebanon on Saturday evening, in response to rocket fire on Israel.

No one has claimed responsibility for the rocket fire from Lebanon or the operation’s motives.

However the incidents coincided with the Israeli war on the Gaza Strip which has so far claimed the lives of 2,133 Palestinians including 578 children, 261 women and 102 elderly as well as injuring nearly 11,000 others, according to the Palestinian Health Ministry.

In recent days the Israeli occupation stepped up its attacks on residential areas. During the last 48 hours they destroyed a 14-story building in Gaza city, an entire neighbourhood in Khan Younis, a shopping centre in Rafah and three mosques in Rafah, Gaza and Beit Hanoun.(T/P008/R03)
