US MUSLIM YOUTH TO HOLD ‘REKINDLES’ CONFERENCE
Conecticut, 2 Rajab 1434/12 May 2013 (MINA) – An American pioneering national youth organization will be hosting annual conference for young Muslim youth in the US, hoping to introduce change in society, build a social conscious, and encourage unity as Muslims.
“The Muslim youth need to realize that it is not too late, that they should never despair in the mercy of their Lord,” the conference page on the Facebook says, as OnIslam reported monitored by Mi’raj News Agency (MINA).
The page added, “It is a part of our job to keep the torch of Islam from dying out. Because we have this responsibility on our shoulders, we need to be more hopeful in terms of deen (religion) as well as duniya (worldly matters).”
The online media reported the event which organized by the Young Muslims (YM) organization will run from May 25 to May 27.
The three-days conference entitled “The Seekers: A Quest for Hope”, it aims at inspiring young American Muslims to reclaim hope in Allah’s forgiveness and in people surrounding them.
“We need to have hope in people and in Allah. We need to introduce change in society, build a social conscious, and encourage unity as Muslims,” the FB page adds.
“We need to be the great people we were meant to be, taking back our title, our story. We have the ability to make a difference. It also said “We are the generation that will take over. We are the ambassadors of this deen. We are the seekers of hope that will bring about a better tomorrow.”
Held on the Memorial Day weekend, the event takes place at the Connecticut Convention Center, the largest convention facility between New York and Boston.
The event will be parallel to the 38th Annual ICNA-MAS Convention that takes place at the same venue under the theme “Islam: The Pursuit of Happiness.”
The youth conference will be hosting featured speakers such as Nouman Ali Khan, founder and CEO of Bayyinah Institute, Sh. Omar Suleiman, member of ICNA’s Shari`ah Council and ICNA’s Institute of Learning Foundation (ILF), and Boston imam Suhaib Webb.
The event would also be attended by Ustadh Wisam Sharieff of Bayyinah Institute, Sheikh Abdul Nasir Jangda and Imam Siraj Wahhaj.
The United States is home to a Muslim minority of between six to eight million.(T/P08?P03)
