ARAB-AMERICA ANTI-DISCRIMINATION COMMITTEE URGES OBAMA TO HELP PALESTINE

Washington, 16 Jumadil Awwal 1434/28 March 2013 (MINA) – The Arab-American Anti Discrimination Committee (ADC) urged U.S. President Barack Obama to help the sruggle of Palestinian  who have been under Israeli occupation.

It was stated by the ADC President Warren David in the official website on Tuesday (26/3) associated with the visit of the head of the country’s state to Palestine on 21 March received by Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas, according to Wafa reports monitored by Mi’raj News Agency (MINA).

The ADC issued a praising statement to Obama’s visit to Palestine and he called on Israel to end its occupation to Palestinian land. “It is proof that the U.S. government recognizes the existence of Palestine as a state,” said David.

“But we did not see any real action to implement Obama’s statement. I think Obama should be consistent with the statement. He should be a part of solution in the struggle of Palestinian people to be free from Israeli occupation, gain their independence and be able to work together with other nations in the world, ” he added.

The international community knows that the U.S. government up to now continues to support Israel’s illegal occupation of Palestinian territory by donating funds and military aid. Although today the relationship between Obama and Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu is no longer intimate.

This is evidenced by the help of the U.S. government that sends funds of $ 3 billion  to Israel in March 2013. Many people are concerned that Israel would use the aid to commit human rights violations against the Palestinian.

Right now,  the Israeli government continues to build and expand illegal settlements in the West Bank although various groups criticized this development because of violating international law. They also demolished residents, land confiscation, and harsh treatment of Palestinian prisoners who are on a hunger strike to protest their conditions and fate of obscurity while in prison.

“While we do not expect too much that Israel will comply with this appeal, but ADC remains committed to continue to help the Palestinian struggle through diplomatic efforts and real relief. ADC urged President Obama to begin to lead the implementation of U.S. foreign policy on the international community to know that America has komitted with the statements, “said the ADC president.
