Jakarta, MINA – The Ministry of Communication and Digital (Komdigi) has given a deadline to several digital platforms, including YouTube and TikTok, to immediately comply with the Government Regulation on Child Protection Governance in the Digital Space (PP TUNAS).

Quoted from MINA News Indonesia on Monday, this step was taken as part of the government’s efforts to strengthen child protection in the digital space. Komdigi emphasized that all platforms are required to adjust their policies and systems in accordance with the regulation, which came into effect on March 28, 2026.

In its implementation, the government has issued a warning to Google, the manager of YouTube, for failing to comply with the provisions stipulated in the PP. This warning comes with a specific deadline for the company to make immediate adjustments.

Meanwhile, other platforms, such as TikTok, are also being asked to demonstrate a commitment to compliance, particularly in managing accounts for children under 16, restricting risky content, and improving digital security systems for young users.

Previously, Komdigi also summoned several global technology companies, including Google and Meta, to ensure their readiness to implement child protection regulations in Indonesia.

The government emphasized that compliance with national regulations is mandatory for all digital service providers.

Observers consider this policy an important step towards creating a safer digital space, especially amidst the increasing use of social media by children.

With a time limit and strict sanctions, it is hoped that global platforms will be more responsible in protecting users in Indonesia. []
