As 1,241 Indonesian Scientific Journal Get Accreditation Certification

Jakarta, MINA – A total of 1,241 scientific journals received Accreditation Certification from the Ministry of Research and Technology/National Research and Innovation Agency (Kemristek/BRIN).

Minister of Research and Technology Bambang Brodjonegoro symbolically submitted the certificates to representatives of 500 participants from various institutions ranging from Aceh to Papua.

“We hope that the journal accreditation can motivate researchers to be more active in producing more qualified publications and gradually be able to eliminate the dependence on the use of indexing systems for publication from abroad,” Bambang said in the National Coordinating Management and Submission of Journal Accreditation Certificate at the Grand Sahid Hotel Jaya, Jakarta on Monday.

Scientific publications are expected to be the starting point for innovation in research which needed by the community.

Meanwhile, Deputy for Research and Strengthening Development, Muhammad Dimyati said, national accredited journals were still needed as many as 8,500 journals.

He explained within one year, journal accreditation had experienced a fairly rapid development in terms of quantity.

It was caused by the demand of very high journal requirements as for promotion to lecturers, researchers, and other functional positions as well as graduation requirements for master and doctoral degree.

“Until November 2019, Indonesian scientific publications in ASEAN level 2018 was on the top based on data on Scopus were 33,953. Then it followed by Malaysia with 33,253. But in 2019, Indonesia became the runner up with 28,374 under Malaysia with 28,404.” he continued.

In addition, there was the launch of Science and Technology Index (Sinta) and the National Journal Accreditation (Arjuna) in Mobile apps, as an application to facilitate the submission of journal. (L/Sj/P2)
