Palestinian Delegations to Take Part in Moscow Conference

Moscow, MINA – Delegates representing 10 Palestinian factions arrived on Sunday (10/2) in Moscow, to take part in a conference organized by the Russian Foreign Ministry to discuss the latest developments in the Palestinian issue.

The two-day conference, which began on Monday (11/2), will include dialogue aimed at pushing the Palestinian national reconciliation process forward, Palinfo reported.

The participation of 10 Palestinian factions also happened because of the increase of the Palestinian struggle, the most notable of which is the Great March of Return in the Gaza Strip.

Alexander Shumilin, a senior European researcher, said that Hamas wanted to maintain good relations with Russia, because Russia was one of the countries that had influence in the Middle East that could create balance in the region given the US bias in favor of Israel.

“What is important for Hamas is that Russia refuses to call it a terrorist movement and recognizes it as a political actor and an important component of the Palestinian people,” Shumilin said in press statements. (T/Ast/R04)
