Washington, MINA – The United States Department of Defense has announced that they will send 3,750 additional troops to the Mexican border to prevent illegal migrants from entering the country.

A Pentagon spokesman said in a written statement that the forces would carry out a 90-day mission on the Mexican border.

The Pentagon revealed that the total force assigned to the US Customs and Border Guard (CBP) has now reached 4,350, as Anadolu Agency reported.

Previously, US CBP Kevin McAleenan said the officers at the border would be supported in the air by four other six helicopter blackhawk.

Meanwhile, US President Donald Trump has firmly responded to the question of migrant groups, calling it an invasion and would be overcome by military.

“Many gang members and bad people joined the group towards the southern border. Please return, you will not be accepted to the United States unless you undergo the right legal process. This is an invasion of our country and military forces are waiting for you! “Trump said on Twitter.

There are around 3,500 people while heading to the US border.

Starting from Honduras, the group continued to grow to reach 7,000 because many people from other Central American countries joined in on a journey of 2,500 kilometers to reach the US on foot.

Mostly, the group consisted of Honduran who fled violence and poverty in their home countries. So far, Mexican police have not tried to stop the group.

While traveling from the Guatemala-Mexico border to the Tapachula region in Mexico, the police set up a road blockade with hundreds of security forces, but they were disbanded before the migrants arrived there.

The deployment of troops is the Trump administration’s latest attempt to implement tighter border security, while the group is increasingly approaching the US border.

The Troops that sent to the border, will not be involved in law enforcement activities but act as supporters of existing border patrol agents. (T/Sj/P2)
