Jakarta , 9 Rabiul Akhir 1435/9 February 2014 (MINA) – The Medical Emergency Rescue Committee (MER-C)’s presidium, Dr. Joserizal Journalis said, a volunteer who serves in the conflict area should be fair, if he does not do this, automatically he/she becomes a partisan.

“Volunteer characterictics is neutral, does not side with one party or another. It is okay if your heart  tends to one group, but it should not be applied into the action, ” said Joserizal in the ” MER – C Volunteers Meeting 2014 ” in Jakarta, Saturday.

Jozerizal reminded the volunteers, humanity is a highly valued principle in Islam that emphasizes the meaning of helping the most vulnerable people and the most neglected people, which means implementing the principle of rahmatan lil ‘ alamin (blessings for the whole universe and its contects).

” The principle of rahmatan lil ‘ alamin essentially gives justice not only to all human beings, but also the other creatures” he said .

According to the surgeon, the principle of fairness is really needed when a volunteer gives the help. It is inline with Islamic principles that uphold justice to everyone. “Volunteers must not look at the background and belief of the person who will be helped,” he added.

“If you give help to all human beings, weather he or she has the same belief with you or not, so you deserve to be a leader. Otherwise, if you cannot do the fairness, you do not deserve to be a leader yet,” he said.

As a senior volunteer who had already experienced in various conflict areas, Joserizal said, humanity is a noble form of activity that stickle on the neutrality and professionalism, so it can be regarded as a problem solver for the warring parties . “ The Problem Solver stand in a neutral position,” he stated.

“A volunteer  should highlight professionalism as it were part of dakwah . We should not take a look at the background of people whom we would like to help. Is he a government supporter, or the opposition, “said Joserizal.

” Our love of one group, should not make our service and treatment to people seems different. We must not prioritize the aid to the people who has the same beliefs with us and negleted the one who has different beliefs. It means unfair,” he warned.( L/P09/P04/E01) .
