Washington, MINA – The US administration is considering building a military base in the Gaza Strip with capacity for about 5,000 personnel, according to an investigative report by The Guardian.
The proposed base would serve as headquarters for an international force envisioned under a Board of Peace (BoP) framework, the report said, citing official contract records.
According to the documents, the project would represent a long-term military presence in southern Gaza rather than a temporary deployment, placing it at the center of broader political and security plans tied to Gaza’s postwar future.
The base would reportedly cover more than 350 hectares (865 acres), measuring approximately 1,400 meters (4,600 feet) in length and 1,100 meters (3,600 feet) in width, with construction carried out in phases.

Planned facilities include 26 armored observation towers mounted on trailers, small-arms firing ranges, reinforced bunkers and storage facilities for military equipment, along with a fully fenced perimeter secured by barbed wire.
The description suggests a heavily fortified operational structure resembling a combat-ready installation rather than a traditional peacekeeping site focused on monitoring or logistical support.[]
