UNICEF Pledges Support for Return of 28.000 Syrian Refugee Children to School

Amman, MINA – The United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF), in cooperation with the Jordanian Ministry of Education, is preparing to support the return of more than 28,000 Syrian children in the Zaatari and Azraq refugee camps to schools with the start of the new scholastic year in September.

In a statement, the UN children’s agency pledged to ensure that all children in both camps get good education to enable them to achieve their hopes and aspirations, UNA reported.

“In 2018 and with the support of donors, the agency managed to expand educational facilities in both camps to provide good education to children,” the statement said, adding that UNICEF is currently in need of $12.5 million to continue providing educational services and support efforts of the Ministry of Education in the 2018-2019 scholastic year.
