Turkey Warns Against Trump’s Expected Jerusalem Announcement

Turkish Deputy Prime Minister and government spokesperson Bekir Bozdag.

Istanbul, MINA – The Turkish government warned the US against its expected move to recognize Jerusalem as the capital of Israel, stressing that such move would cause a major disaster.

Any change in the historical status quo of Jerusalem would cause a catastrophe and destroy the peace process, WAFA Palestinian news agency reported, quoting Turkish government spokesperson Bekir Bozdag during a press conference.

Bozdag stressed that if the status quo of Jerusalem is changed, it would pave the way for new conflicts, disputes, and unrest in the region.

The Turkish official noted that such action would not benefit Israel, or any other country, adding that this possible US move would only drag the region into a new disaster.
