Terror Convict Aman Abdurrahman Sentenced to Death

 

Jakarta, mina — Terror convict Oman Rochman, alias Aman Abdurrahman, was sentenced to death by the South Jakarta District Court on Friday for his involvement in some terrorist attacks in the country.

“The defendant Oman Rochman, alias Abu Sulaiman bin Ade Sudarma, alias Aman Abdurrahman, was proven guilty of committing terror acts and sentenced Oman Rochman, alias Abu Sulaiman bin Ade Sudarma, alias Aman Abdurrahman, to death,”Antara News quoted presiding judge Akhmad Jaini as stating while reading out the verdict.

The panel of judges then asked the defendant and his lawyer whether they would appeal the verdict.

“Do you want to seek an appeal or agree with the verdict or do you want to discuss it first?” Jaini questioned.

Asrudin Hatjani, a member of Oman`s team of lawyers, said they will study the verdict.

“We will study (the verdict) Your Honor,” Hatjani noted.

Rochman was charged for his involvement in the Thamrin bomb attack in Jakarta, Oikumene Church bombing in Samarinda, Kampung Melayu bombing in Jakarta, and the attacks in Bima, West Nusa Tenggara, and North Sumatra police headquarters.

He was charged with masterminding those terror attacks.

Rochman was due to be released from prison on August 17, 2017, after serving his nine-year jail term for involvement in a military training of Jamaah Islamiyah in Jalin mountains, Aceh Besar, in 2010.

However, on August 18, 2017, the police named him a suspect in the bomb attack in the Thamrin area, Central Jakarta. . (T/RS5/RS1)
