Russia Warns US Against Supplying Syrian Opposition With Shoulder-Fired Missiles

Moscow, 28 Rabiul Awwal 1438/28 December 2016 (MINA) – Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov warned the US Tuesday against supplying the Syrian opposition with shoulder-fired missiles.

Lavrov, in a phone call with his American counterpart John Kerry, said supplying the Syrian opposition with shoulder-fired anti-aircraft rockets would increase tension and human casualties, the foreign ministry said in a statement.

US President Barack Obama signed a law last week allowing the supply of shoulder-fired missiles to the Syrian opposition.

Russia expressed concern that these rockets would fall in hands of terrorists. (end) as.bs
