Jakarta, 24 Dzulqa’dah 1435/19 September 2014 (MINA) – A car showroom building became a place for a qurban animal supermarket when Eid al-adha comes. The building named ” Qurban Animal Mall “.

The location was right next to Brimob Corps Headquarters (Markas Korps) Brimob Kelapa Dua, Depok, Road No. 89 A Cimanggis.

Owner of the mall, H. Doni, provided modern facilities such as air-conditioned room, clean environment and “Cow Ladies” or Sales Promotion Girls (SPG). They were ready to serve customers.

“We want to present different thing, because the impression of place for livestock sales in Indonesia is always dirty,” said Muhammad Zuhri (50), Site Manager of Qurban Animal Mall.

According to him, the name of the mall itself reflected the guaranteed cleanness and hygiene.

Beside adding convenience to consumers, air conditioner can also affect on health of qurban animals. “If conditions are comfortable and cool, the cattles/qurban animals do not suffer stress so that its weight of the animals are stabil,” he said.

He have traded cattles over 32 years. The mall has been running since 4 years ago. “Previously, we do not use that name in sale of qurban animals,” said Zuhri.
“We are trying to convince consumers by giving a guarantee in form of official health certificate from animal health department. We dare to insure animals that have been purchased, ” Zuhri said. The insurance covered death or illness of animals during treatment before it is sacrificed, he explained.

Remain optimistic

Although prices of cattles increased 10 -20 percent this year, he remained optimistic that the sales would increase. “We target up to 8000 cattles sold this year,” Zuhri said. Stock of cattles were about 4008 in 2013 and it left only 8 cattles.

The price of his cattles was competitive enough. “We sell the cattles in party and retail, so the price can be compared with others,” he said.

The lowest price of cattle with weight about 250 kg was about $1,081. While the highest price of cattle with weight over 1 ton was about $16,632. “There are four price class, middle, middle-ups, premium and executive class,” Zuhri said.

According to him, the price included transportation, cattle care and cattle insurance.

He sold type of cattles  from Bali, Kupang, Limosin and Brahman. “We just provide cows and we do not provide goats,” Zuhri said.
